Popping into Selling CEP

Massive thanks to all the Staff at Selling CEP who made me feel really welcome last week (24th March).  It was really great to spend some time planning with you and chatting through the work that School Connect does in both Uganda and the UK.  I am really looking forward to seeing some of the work that your pupils generate over the next few months.

Connected Kids Workshop

How is Ugandan School and village life different to yours?

Hand painted response to Ugandan source material

Look at this amazing art that has been produced by the Children of Kingsmead during a special day.  They looked at a picture by a Ugandan artist which shows a scene of Ugandan life and then decided to make their own scene, depicting life in the Kingsmead Playground.  Later in the day Uganda Class spent some time learning about the types of Toys and Games that Ugandan children use to entertain themselves.  Then they made some of their own toys and games using recycled materials and junk that they had found around the school.

Check out their picture – it is ace!  They have decided to send it to their Ugandan Partner School as a  gift.

Website Launched at Kingsmead Primary School

Thanks so much to those partner schools who came to our website launch last night.  During the meeting it was decided that UK schools should write their own descriptions and add some photos to their work so that the Links Page begins to fill up with information.  Lots of ideas were shared as to how pupils could do this and it was agreed that these would be sent in to School Connect in the next few weeks.  If you were not able to make the meeting please take a look at this page and begin to plan your school’s description as well.  Emma shared some lesson starters and activity ideas to support you in this term’s theme of Ugandan Food.  This will be available as a pdf file on the website in the near future.
